Who I Am

I am an attorney, a coach, a mentor, and a dad. I believe in second chances, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping people overcome obstacles and defend their futures. I didn’t choose criminal defense by accident. I’ve always hated bullies, and the legal system can become the biggest bully of all. I realized how easily the system could crush an innocent person who lacked a strong defense attorney.

I became a lawyer not just to defend people, but to ensure their worst moments didn’t define their futures.

When I’m not driving Rossen Law Firm forward, you’ll find me coaching basketball—a passion I’ve pursued for over 20 years. In a full-circle moment, I had the privilege of coaching our Managing Partner, Manny Serra-Jovenich, during his high school years, long before he became my law partner. Coaching young athletes and mentoring my team at Rossen Law Firm are two of the most fulfilling aspects of my life.

Beyond my legal career, I host the Success in South Florida Podcast, where I interview top entrepreneurs, business leaders, and legal professionals to share insights on growth, leadership, and success.

Additionally, I’m deeply committed to educating and mentoring fellow attorneys through Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses. My passion for criminal defense extends to teaching other defense attorneys nationwide, sharing strategies and knowledge to elevate the quality of representation and ensure more people have access to exceptional defense.

Outside the professional world, I’m a devoted husband and proud father of two amazing boys. My wife Kyley, and my sons, Chase and Luke, remind me daily why I fight so hard for my clients and the importance of compassion and understanding.

Why I Do This Work

Everyone deserves a chance at redemption. No one should be defined by their worst moment—and that belief drives everything I do.

I started my legal career as a prosecutor at the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, handling everything from DUIs and drug charges to violent felonies. That experience gave me a firsthand look at how the system works—and how often it fails the people who need help the most.

I quickly realized that too many people were being punished instead of helped. During my time as a prosecutor, I witnessed firsthand how some police officers would lie, manipulate evidence, and twist facts, unfairly tipping the scales of justice against people who deserved better. I couldn't stand by and let that happen. So, in 2008, I left the prosecutor’s office to fight for the accused instead of against them. I built Rossen Law Firm with a simple mission:

To help good people when bad things happen.

As proud partners of In Jacob’s Shoes, an organization dedicated to providing shoes and school supplies to local children in need, we are committed to positively impacting our community. I serve on the board, and for every referral we receive, whether they become a client or not, we donate a pair of shoes to help a child take confident steps toward a brighter future.

This isn’t just a job for me—it’s a calling. I don’t just represent my clients; I believe in them. And when they walk out of the courtroom with their future intact, I know I’ve done my job.

My Background & Education

I’ve always been competitive, and that drive pushed me to excel in both academics and athletics. I graduated cum laude from the University of Florida, earning dual degrees in Psychology and Criminology, before earning my Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2006.

After law school, I became a prosecutor in the 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida, where I quickly gained a reputation for my trial skills, securing convictions against habitual offenders and serious felons. But my real passion was criminal defense, and in 2008, I took the leap to start my firm.

Since then, I’ve grown Rossen Law Firm into one of Florida's most respected criminal defense firms, earning national recognition and making a difference in thousands of lives.

I believe in shaping the future of law, that’s why I’m a Pre-Law Instructor at American Heritage School – Broward Campus. Additionally, I established what I consider to be the country’s most elite and truly unique internship program in criminal defense. I do this becaue I feel it is our duty to create top legal talent and we can only do that by giving students the experiences they won’t get anywhere else.
