Palm Beach Theft Defense Lawyers Get Organized Fraud and Grand Theft Charges Dismissed

Outcome of Grand Theft Case in Palm Beach:

Our client John had all charges against him dismissed. After we came to a deal with State Prosecutors, John agreed to pay full restitution for losses in exchange for prosecutors to drop the theft and fraud case. John and his family are very happy with this outcome because the Rossen Law Firm was able to shield John from having one mistake define the rest of his life.

This result also allowed us to expunge his record which fully puts John in a position to achieve his best future. John is only 22 years old and has the rest of his life ahead of him without the worry of the repercussions of a criminal record or a public mugshot.

Client Concerns During Grand Theft Case in Palm Beach:

John was terrified about being the subject of a police investigation. He thought his mistake was behind him and that he would be able to go on with his life without this incident defining his future. After police made contact with him, he began facing the imminent possibility of going to jail at 22 years old.

Facts on Grand Theft Case in Palm Beach:

Before John became our client, he worked as a sales representative at a major cellphone store in Palm Beach County. He had access to cellphone products and had permission to log transactions. One day a manager approached him with a suspicious opportunity to make more money. The manager said they can sell some of the store’s iPhone 11s to a fake online business and keep the profit from the transactions. The manager recruited John because he had access to the store’s transaction log and was able to manage the bookkeeping.

John was conflicted during this situation. He recognized that it was suspicious but he respected and trusted his manager. The manager reassured John on multiple occasions that their plan was “foolproof” and that John had nothing to worry about. John was under peer pressure from his supervisor and did not have malicious intentions. He did not think anyone would get hurt if he were to partake in this opportunity. As a result, John made the unwise mistake of joining his manager in this endeavor.

A month later, the cellphone store conducted an internal audit of its products and sales. The company saw a strange discrepancy in its numbers and eventually tracked it down to John. When John was caught, he was extremely remorseful, confessed, and disclosed all the details of the incident to the supervisors. He was fired from the cellphone store and did not hear any follow-up regarding the situation. He figured that the event was behind him and wanted to turn over a new leaf.

9 months go by and John receives a phone call from the police. The officer told him that John was under investigation for Organized Fraud and Grand Theft. Out of panic, John meets with the detective and discloses all the details of his case. After realizing the gravity of the situation, John decided he needed legal representation and made the wise choice of contacting the theft defense attorneys at the Rossen Law Firm in South Florida.

Strategy to Fight Grand Theft Case in Palm Beach:

Once we took John’s case, we had to review the facts of the situation from about a year ago to establish a defense for our client. We started our strategy by letting law enforcement know that John will be using his right to be silent and all contact regarding the case needs to go through the Rossen Law Firm. This created a shield for our client and prevented him from being arrested and taken into the police’s custody.

Up to this point, John was a suspect but had not been apprehended by the police. This is an example of why it is very important to hire a defense attorney when a police officer contacts you in an investigation because it may save you from being arrested, having your mug shot taken, and going to jail. Otherwise, a warrant may be made for your arrest and the police will have the authority to invade your home or workplace to apprehend you. A defense attorney can prevent this by negotiating with law enforcement and have them agree not to perform an arrest while the law firm conducts its own investigation.

We succeeded in doing this for John and his case was sent to the State Prosecutor’s office for review. This was a major win and saved us from needing to drag on the case for months or years as is typical for major white-collar crime investigations. After only three months of negotiation with the Palm Beach Prosecutors, we agreed to a deal that John would pay full restitution for the losses in exchange for having the criminal case completely dismissed.
