We were able to get the case dismissed.
It was at the time of her arrest that Dawn found out the restraining order was still in place. So aside from being upset about her arrest, Dawn was angry and hurt that Kristine had lied to her about having the restraining order dismissed.
Dawn C. was in an on again, off again relationship with her girlfriend Kristine. Five years ago, Kristine filed a restraining order against Dawn. They were not seeing each other at the time, so the restraining order was agreed to by both women and was made permanent. Five months later Dawn and Kristine got back together. Kristine told Dawn she had gotten the restraining dismissed. They were very happy sharing their lives together. They were on the same cell phone plan, and even had a Southwest Airlines companion pass together. Then one day while Dawn is alone at Kristine’s house in Wilton Manors, Florida, she gets into an argument with a neighbor. The neighbor calls the police. The police arrive, find out about the restraining order when they run Dawn through the system and it states that she is supposed to be 500 feet from Kristine’s home at all times. They arrest her on the spot.
Because the women were still in a committed relationship at that point we worked with both Kristine and the prosecution to get the charges dismissed.
