Our strategy was a success. No one from the store’s end showed up for trial and so the state dismissed the charges.
Jail time, probation, and having a criminal record.
Fanise A. came to our firm with an outstanding warrant. In 2009 she was shopping at Walmart in Coral Springs, Florida when security caught her trying to shoplift two dresses (a total value of $25.00). She was apprehended and paid for the two items before leaving the store. Fanise did not retain an attorney and missed court on this case. Six years later she was picked up on an outstanding warrant. She attempted to handle the case herself and got put in a diversion program. However she didn’t report for the program and got kicked out. Then she hired Adam.
Store security officers change jobs fairly often, and often they don’t do a great job following up. Since this was such an old case we decided to announce we were ready for trial knowing the store most likely wouldn’t be.
