In December of 2022, the client had reason to believe that the victim was stealing packages from him. When the client went to confront him, he observed the victim attacking his father, leading to a physical altercation culminating in the client’s co-defendant shooting the victim. The police responded to the report of the shooting by the victim. The client was present with a weapon but did not shoot the victim. Ultimately, no criminal charges resulted against the client.
The client and his co-defendant believed that the victim had been stealing packages from them, as they were living in the same apartment complex as the victim’s girlfriend. They decided to confront the victim about the stealing, at which point the client observed the victim attacking his father. As a result, the client acted along with his co-defendant and the physical altercation continued. During this time, the client and his co-defendant took possession of the victim’s chain necklace. The client’s co-defendant ultimately shot the victim, leading to the police responding to the incident.
The client was facing three counts: battery, aggravated assault with a firearm, and robbery. The client was 20 years old and living in Lauderhill, FL at the time that he was arrested. He was living in the same apartment complex as the victim. His co-defendant was significantly older than him and was the person who ultimately injured the victim.
Krista Richman and the Rossen Law team worked to evaluate the evidence in this case, including case supplemental reports, statements, and arrest reports from the Lauderhill Police Department. Krista and the team coordinated with the co-defendant’s attorney to set up depositions of the state’s witnesses after the court ordered the state to produce the witnesses.
However, the victim and the other listed state witnesses refused or failed to show up for those coordinated depositions, leading the case to be nolle prossed by the state. This case only reached initial stages of the legal process since it was resolved by the firm quickly.
Ultimately, all three counts were dropped and no criminal charges resulted for the client.
