Florida Burglary Case Gets Dismissed by Coconut Creek Lawyers
After 12 months of the Felony PTI program, we were able to get the case dismissed. We immediately started the expungement process, and it was granted 12 months later. Serious felony charges for burglary are now off Joseph’s record.
Joseph was concerned about having a serious felony on his record, being branded a criminal, and not being able to get a good job because of it.
Facts on Florida Burglary Case:
Joseph B. and a friend climbed a fence to enter a high school and steal two bicycles. While he was riding the stolen bicycle home, Joseph was stopped by a police officer in Coconut Creek, Florida. His friend jumped off his bike and ran away. Joseph stopped and ended up being detained by the police because a witness at the school had seen two males enter the school and take the bicycles. Joseph waived his Miranda Rights and admitted to stealing the bike. He was then arrested for burglary.
Joseph had some previous crimes on his record, but also a long list of mental health issues. Because of his mental health issues we wanted to get him into the Felony PTI program. He was originally denied entry into the program, but once we provided paperwork detailing his mental health issues he was admitted.
